Saints Sport has secured a new sponsorship deal with Papa Johns St Andrews to support its championship winning women’s section of the University of St Andrews Football Club.

The Saints Women’s Football section, whose teams were British Universities and Colleges Sport 2022-23 Scottish league 1A, 2A winners, as well as #shecanshewill cup winners for the second year in a row, will use the funding to supply all three women’s teams with Macron sub jackets.
Based at St Andrews Holiday Park and operated by the Abbeyford Leisure Group, the team from Papa Johns St Andrews are well-known across the university and are regular attendees at the annual Freshers and Sports Fayres, helping bring better ingredients and better pizza to students and locals in and around the home of golf.
Sarah Menzies, Store Manager, said:
We have a fantastic relationship with the university and I’m delighted that we’ve netted this sponsorship deal which highlights our commitment to women’s football. Our pizzas really are in a league of their own and students love that our dough is always fresh, never frozen.”
Women’s football offers students the opportunity to play at a performance, competitive and recreational level. The club supports 3 competitive women’s teams that compete in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) league and cup competitions across the country throughout the academic year.
The Women’s 1st Team is one of ten performance teams recognised by the Performance Sport programme, which benefits from a dedicated Director of Football and additional support such as performance analysis, increased funding, greater access to training facilities, and long-term development and performance strategies.
Stuart Milne, Saints Sport Director of Football, said:
I am delighted to have the opportunity of partnering with Papa Johns St Andrews. Their support of our women’s teams in the programme is really appreciated as we continue to progress and push on in all our objectives this season. Thanks to everyone involved for making this opportunity happen.”
In a season that saw record levels of membership, titles and trophies, the Club raised more than £5000 for three different charities. Five women also volunteered their time with local girls’ football club St Andrews and East Neuk Girls to inspire the next generation of players.
